Flavia Tumusiime continues to share inspiring stories from her life and career in the “30 days of Flavia Tumusiime” series. On day 15, she posted:
“Some years back, I was in TZ on a small break and one of the friends I was with, had a passion for photography. We were at one of the beautiful beaches and we decided to have a fun photoshoot. I was so happy with the pictures I decided to post one on facebook.
I did it innocently, but it caused a storm. On facebook the storm was of likes and all sorts of comments about how I looked great and the picture was amazing and so on. But my family was having their own version of a storm. One of my brothers(cousin) was so angry and asked me to take it off Facebook immediately(he felt it was rather indecent).
From time to time, my family members will meddle into what crowd am part of, what I do or who I date even. Am an adult, but I have let it happen that way because I believe each of us has to be accountable to someone, could be family, your lover, friend, boss or the public as in my world. The reason this works for you, is that it will stop you in the tracks of some mistakes(because we all make mistakes) and you will worry the impact it causes on them. I would be a mess if I didnt have my family tapping my shoulder every so often.”
