Micho names 24-man squad ahead of Comoros clash

Uganda Cranes head tactician, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named a 24-man squad ahead of the 2017 AFCON qualifier clash away against Comoros next month.

The Serbian revealed the list of players summoned for preparations yesterday (Thursday 27th) during the weekly press conference at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

Federation president, Eng. Moses Magogo attended the conference alongside other officials as coach Micho highlighted the importance of Cranes’ away tie against a 186th ranked Comoros.

“The match against Comoros away is our most important game of the campaign. We need to prepare well, psychologically, mentally and physically,” Micho said.

Yasser Mugerwa who recently signed a three year deal with South African giants, Orlando Pirates made it to the summoned squad that consists of four goal keepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders, and four strikers.

The team is expected to start residential training on Monday, 31st August 2015 before the coach names his final travelling squad that will have 2 goalies, 6 defenders, 7 midfielders and 3 strikers.

Goal Keepers: Dennis Onyango (Mamelodi Sun Downs, South Africa), Ismail Watenga (Vipers, Uganda), Robert Odongkara (St George, Ethiopia), Salim Jamal (El Merriekh, Sudan)

Defenders: Denis Iguma (Al Ahed, Lebanon), Joseph Ochaya (KCCA, Uganda), Murushid Juuko (Simba, Tanzania), Godfrey Walusimbi (Gor Mahia, Kenya), Denis Okot (KCCA, Uganda), Shafik Bakaki (Vipers, Uganda), Richard Kasagga Jjuuko (URA, Uganda), Isaac Isinde (St George)
