Six (6) university students, have been undergoing golf training sessions at the Uganda Golf Club Kitante Par-72 course, thanks to a three-month free training stint by Vodafone. Vodafone Uganda entered into partnership with the Uganda Golf Club Ladies Section in May to sponsor Friday Ladies Night’s tournaments.  As part of the Ladies Nights, women are encouraged to take up the sport with free training sessions offered to those who sign up.

Vodafone Uganda offered a sponsorship package worth UGX 20 million to the ladies, who were mainly drawn from the corporate world and universities.

Vodafone CEO Allan Richardson said Vodafone prides its self in empowering people. “We want to reach out to ladies who have big dreams but have no means to pursue them. This is why we opted to offer a three-month free training opportunity to the six ladies who are passionate about golf,” said Richardson.

“Partnering with the Ladies Section is one of the ways that Vodafone is enabling women get involved in an activity that is more than just a sport but a lifestyle and it also provides the brand an opportunity to connect with its customers and share their passion and interests,” he added.

The Uganda Golf Club – Ladies Section organises the Ladies Nights on selected Fridays to encourage and support more ladies to take part in the sport. Golf is fast becoming a lifestyle preference for a considerable number of Ugandans and Vodafone Uganda is privileged to contribute to the development of the game.
