KCCA decide on club name

KCCA fc

By James Robert Kayindi

For a while, the football fraternity across the country has been unsure on the right name for the Kasasiro Boys but it’s now official that effective this season, the team will be called KCCA FC and not KCC FC as the case was previously.

The development has also been backed by the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) despite the fact that a section of former club leaders were against the change of the club name from KCC FC to KCCA FC as mandated by the 2010 KCCA Act.

“This is part of the many changes we have ushered in at the club in the last 100 days in office. Some opportunistic people wanted to portray the club as one on the stock exchange market that grants them shares which is not the case. We inquired from the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and we were told that the club has never sold shares to anyone. The state of affairs now implies that the club belongs to all the fans in Uganda but under KCCA,” Kabugo, the club chairman revealed.

The chairman bases his arguments on the fact that the club is run and fully funded by the KCCA as an organization. He also demanded that whoever feels they have shares in the club should get involved in its day-to-day running and share the costs of maintaining it.

“We run the club on a Ugx 1.8bn budget annually. It would be worthwhile if those claiming to have shares in the club came on board and footed at least 40% of that sum or pay some of the maintenance fees for the stadium,” Kabugo further told the club’s official website.
