Maurice Hasa is one of the few musicians that have made a positive impact on Uganda’s music industry.
Hasa is popularly known for his song Kaleke kasome that advocates for children’s freedom from sexual harassment, that is said to have been inspired by a similar event that befell one of his relatives.
According to Hasa, it was his wish when he was a child to study hard and become famous and use his fame to help other children to attain education.
“When I was around 6, I told my teacher that I wanted to grow up and become famous, use my fame to help other children to attain education. My fellow pupils laughed at me but I down know if they still laugh because I haven’t deviated a single bit from my prayer,” said Hasa.
This comes at a time when the singer started a charity organisation called ‘Hasa for Children’ that helps underprivileged kids.
