Fixtures in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) starting next season 2015/2016 will be played on weekends according to reports coming from the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).
Bernard Bainamani, the Chief Executive Officer of the UPL confirmed the new development yesterday during the weekly press conference at FUFA house in Mengo, Kampala.
“Our matches will be played on Wednesday and Saturdays. In case of any unforeseen circumstances, some games will be rescheduled to be played on weekdays,” Bainamani affirmed the development.
Games will now shift from the traditional Tuesdays and Fridays. This comes after top flight clubs asked the local football governing body to cater for the working class who wish to enjoy the Azam Uganda Premier League.
The new League season will kick off on 22nd August, 2015 with the fixtures set to be released today.
