Sophie Baguma, the mother to singers – Maurice Kirya and Vampino Kirya – was laid to her final resting place at her ancestral home in Rwenkoole along Masindi-Hoima road yesterday as friends, family and well-wishers paid their last respects to the deceased.
Sophie who had been admitted at Mulago hospital in a critical condition early last week, passed away on Sunday after succumbing to cancer.
Overwhelmed by the comforting words of encouragement and empathy received from friends and fans, Maurice Kirya has come out to thank them for being there for him.
He said, “I would like to thank all my friends, family, fans, institutions and the world at large for comforting me in such a trying time. My lovely Mother is headed to a better place! I will miss her forever.”
