Uganda Kobs

By James Robert Kayindi

After a humiliating 4-0 defeat for the Uganda Kobs in Egypt over the weekend, Uganda’s chances of qualifying to the CAF U-23 Africa Championship and possibly the 2016 Olympic games remained very slim.

The two sides clashed at the Al Borg El Arba stadium in Alexandria in the first leg of the 3rd round qualification stage of the CAF U-23 Africa Championship whose finals are due late November this year in Senegal.

Egypt scored through Muhammed Salem, Ramadan Sobhy with Mahmoud Trezeguet coming through with a brace on the evening.

The return leg between the two sides is to be played in a fortnight on 1st August, 2015 at Nakivubo stadium with Uganda facing a very huge task ahead of them to overturn the result.

The Kobs are expected to return today.

Starting XI: Jamal Salim (GK), Deus Bukenya, Brian Ochwo, Richard Kasagga, Shafiki Bakaki, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Tadeo Lwanga, Keziron Kizito, Farouk Miya (C), Yunus Ssentamu, Fahad Muhammed Hassan.

Subs: James Alitho (GK), Patrick Mbowa, John Semazzi, Erisa Sekisambu, Martin Kizza, Brian Nkubi, Alex Kitata
