BET award winner, Eddy Kenzo has cleared the air regarding the controversial issue of the Triplet dancers.
While appearing on Full Doze show on Bukedde TV last night, the singer explained why he didn’t recognize the efforts of the ‘Sitya Loss’ kids that put him on the world map.
He said that everything that people see on the screen was his idea. He also noted that he is the one who directed them on what to do and he knew what he wanted to achieve.
“I wanted to send a message to the world. I used the kids in the video to send out a message that Africa has kids who are talented. They had nothing to do with my song, they were only following my instructions. The credit had to go to the owner of the idea.
“The logic behind the video was to make it viral. I had worked with these kids in my previous songs and this was also one of them. Why should they claim rights to this particular song?”
He then explained how he made them stars:
“All I did for these kids was to put them on the world map and help them find their path. I even brought a suggestion to build for the kids. But their manager was opposed to the idea because he thought I was trying to get ahead of them.
“While I was in America, their manager quickly rebranded them to make a quick buck. He made several videos with them that never got viral. They are doing their own thing and I am doing mine. If I invite them to a show I pay them immediately.”
On the issue of the seven million that Kenzo reportedly didn’t pay to the kids after they worked for it the singer said that he paid three million at the start to their manager and later cleared the rest.
“The kids have been in London they have made money and they were taken away from them. I am happy for them and I have no control over them anymore. I wish them the best.”
We will keep you posted.
