Former Shadow’s Angels dancer Patricia Ssewungu is set to release her much-anticipated autobiography titled A PIECE of CAKE which will certainly cause storms and ripples across the showbiz stage in Uganda. The book will be launched in London on July 25, 2015 before Ssewungu moves to launch it in Kampala on August 5.
A PIECE of CAKE is an epic story depicting her journey from a small village homestead in Masaka to the great cities of the world.
She leaves home at a tender age and seeks to make it all by herself after finding redemption in Kampala. She lost herself behind the sad eyes of an overwhelmed young mother. The episode of inter-weaving work to raise her school fees and life as a mother is intricate and fascinating. She inevitably finds clues to her continuity through support of friends. Undaunted by the failures of life, she continued to pursue life eagerly and breathlessly and finds her new adventure very exciting.
She experienced instances where everyone almost deserted her and opted to look life in the face and know it for what it is. She always found a way to forge ahead despite the inconveniences that life threw her way. At some point in life, she was depressed to the point of collapse. The United Kingdom and its agony took a toll on her, to the point of contemplating suicide but she wasn’t about to give up. She thought about death as an end, not a beginning and perceived it as an escape from her circumstances but not a solution!
In regard to the things that influenced her choices, A PIECE of CAKE is offered as an icon. The power contained within its pages will drive the readers to the edge of oblivion, then draw them back when she decides to change a major plot mid-way and reactivate her quest for her piece of cake. Its passes for a perfect poignant parallel to modern entertainment.
Just as music and arts can inspire and mold, her story goes a long way in realizing the latter. It will be a great contribution to the moral, spiritual, inspirational and mental faculties of her readers.
This is definitely a creative launch pad for complex ruminations about life, depression, family, work and how the choices we make have significant impact in creating our destinies.
Her story is obsessed with ambiguity and conundrum. It’s a literary buff’s dream that has leapt from her mind to the printed pages.
“There is no way the world could have waited forever for me to finally share my story in one piece,” says Ssewungu. “I have given it a personal touch to inspire my many supporters, mentors, friends and fans round the world. My book, A PIECE of CAKE, finally unveils new energy that must take all those seeking success to action and a new vision of what must be done by those in quest for success.”
