Statistics are beginning to show something that will leave many heads rolling. When the government sponsorship list to University was released, few noticed this about St. Mary’s College Kitende.

Total number Admitted on government sponsorship: 2097.
Those from St. Mary’s Kitende: 230.
A ratio of 1:9.

This implies that for every 9 students admitted to University on government sponsorship, one will always be from Kitende.

Does this make sense to the Ugandan tax payer? Is government sponsorship achieving its initial purpose? When one school dominates government sponsorship, perhaps then a limit should be imposed on how many students can be sponsored from government for a given school.
