While Desire Luzinda was preparing to take her Kitone to South Africa later this month, her show could end up being cancelled. The sad news comes at a time when Xenophobia has taken over South Africa as the locals are fighting any black person who is a foreigner in the country.
Desire’s show which was slated to take place at the end of this month in Durban could be cancelled if the violence that has already claimed five lives continues.
According to multiple media reports, the latest violence followed comments by Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, an influential figure among the Zulu ethnic group, that foreigners should “pack their bags” and leave.
Most of the recent unrest occurred in and around the coastal city of Durban, where police said two foreigners and three South Africans were killed.
We hope this ends soon so that Desire can export her kitone without getting into any trouble. Her show was organized by ICY studios.
We will keep you posted.
