Makerere University head coach Douglas Bamweyana survived a beating following a very bitter argument with some of the university students after their 2-1 victory against Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
The development followed the discontentedness amongst students (fans) and players’ after they were given a very small allowance as compared to what they expected after the match.
“We travelled very early in the hens, at around 5:00am to go Mbarara and play the game. It even rained during the course of the match (in the second half) but we still fought hard and went ahead to win the game but all he gave us was 10,000/- allowance. This money is way too little”, a source in the team that prefered anonymity told BigEye.ug.
“The fans abused him badly in a fight for us as players who had been given such little money after the game,” he added.
On the evening, Lubwama Joshua and Dan Kasoma were on the score sheet as Makerere condemned MUST to a 2-1 defeat.
Makerere return to action tomorrow against Nkozi University at a venue that is yet to be revealed in their second game of group A.
