Fast And Furious 7 premieres in Kampala

fast and furiousMovie enthusiasts thronged different cinemas on Thursday evening for the premiere of the latest installment of Fast And Furious 7. Was it worth the salt? Sure, it was. For one who never watched the previous six parts, it is sad because, apparently, there is no ‘previously on Fast and Furious…’

The movie was worth the wait. Action-movie freaks will love this one. It plants you at the edge of your seat, unblinking, holding onto your seat, your heart racing with the cars. The fighting scenes are impeccable. The darned sport cars with revving engines and awkward exterior and armored. The crew returns in this and they threw in extras which makes the movie quite exciting. It opens up with Shaw (Jason Statham) who is out on the mission to make revenge on whoever killed his brother. Jason slips in the typical Statham character; quick with his hands, merciless, and with his brooding deep looks and his iconic bald head. He won’t give up, so does Vin Diesel and his crew.

At some point, there is a shot that seems impossible; cars fall out of the plane, one by one. And smooth-talker Tyrese Gibson takes the biscuit. He is scared and talkative. Scared to follow his friends who were mid-air. And Ludacris tricks him up and drags his scared butt into the skies.

Brian (Paul Walker) was the usual handsome lad, good on the wheels. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was all muscles. Ludacris was the witty IT lad. Kurt Russell chipped in on this as well. And the climax brings a tear to the eye. They replay scenes of Paul Walker from the last parts. Vin Diesel talks fondly of him. They gave him quite a befitting tribute. Race In Peace, Brian. Rest In Peace, Paul Walker.
