Mad Ice

By Tuhairwe Joab

Silence doesn’t mean someone is gone; don’t be surprised to see Maddox Ssematimba bounce back with a new tune soon. In the same regard, Ugandan born singer/songwriter and producer  Mad Ice aka Ahmed Kakoyi who has been off people’s minds for so long has bounced back.

Mad Ice left Uganda a few years back after finding stiff competition in the Ugandan music industry that had the likes of Micheal Ross, Juliana, Blue3, Steve Jean among others and thus resorted to taking musical refuge in Tanzania.

He is mostly remembered for songs like Gwe wange, Baby girl, Mapenzi, Niwewe among others that he recorded in Uganda before shifting to Tanzania where he worked for a while and later migrated to Finland.

A few months back, Mad Ice released a couple of songs that include; On the way, Wasiwasi, Everything I do and Faith which have received massive airplay in Finland where the singer currently resides hence winning himself a name among the few musicians that have exported our local talents overseas.
