Fred Kajoba’s side, Bright Stars managed to hold a strong Vipers side to a goalless draw at Matugga Stadium on Tuesday evening in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).

The result however saw the 2010 champions maintain their number one spot at the AUPL table with 46 points from 20 games and keep the 5 point gap as well after chasers SC Villa were also held to a 2-2 draw by Jinja based side Bull fc at Nakivubo stadium.

Despite taking the lead through Ronald Mugangga in the 8th minute, Villa didn’t mantain the lead for long as Bul’s Crespo Asiku netted an equalizer in the 30th minute.

From that the moment, Bul set the pace of the game until when they broke into the lead through Crespo Asiku before being reduced to men later when Tito Okello was sent off for unsportsmanlike behaviors just after SC Vila’s double change.

The double change by care taker Ibrahim Kirya saw Hakim Magumba laid off for Chrizestom Ntambi and Yeseri Waibi for Augustine Nsumba respectively.

Villa continued to trail a goal down till the dying minutes of the game when substitute Moses Gaale equalized, for the ‘Blues’ to walk away with a point. Villa was denied the chance to reduce the 5point gap between them and the table leader Vipers.

Azam Uganda Premier League Tuesday results:

Bright Stars 0-0 Vipers
Simba 0-0 Soan
Sadolin 1-1 Police
SC Villa 2-2 BUL
SCVU 0-2 URA
