Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz, and his Ugandan girlfriend Zari Hassan, could be in trouble with Tanzania Revenue Authorities for not paying taxes.
According to reports, the tax body has demanded that Diamond’s management company should declare how much he has made and how much tax he has paid from his earning or face legal action.
Reports further indicate that the ‘Number One’ singer has been raking in millions of shillings since his debut in the music industry but not a penny has been paid to the authorities in tax. The Tax Authority wrote to his management rising their concerns.
According to the letter, Diamond and his management have up to next week Tuesday to hand in their reports or risk legal action.
The hit maker who came into the music limelight in 2009 has grown to be one of the most sought after artistes in East Africa commanding huge appearance fees. This latest claim comes just days after his performance at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCAs) Lagos, Nigeria where he was the only East African headlining the event.
