A 10-man Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) managed to cruise past Madagascar’s ASSM Elgeco Plus in the first leg clash of the CAF confederation Cup at the Namboole stadium on Friday.
The Tax collectors came twice from behind to win the encounter. URA’s Mugabi Jonathan received matching orders from the center referee Djamal Aden for bringing down Elgeco plus’ Deanny Rajaorimanana in the area and leaving the referee with no choice but to award a penalty to the visitors who made no mistake to take the lead from the spot in the 49th minute through first half substitute Yvon Njilamanana.
Alex Isabirye, the URA head coach made some tactical changes bringing on Elukana Nkugwa for Peter Lwasa and later introducing Frank Kalanda for Patrick Ochan.
URA equalized later through goal poacher Robert Ssentongo before the visitors reclaimed their lead after Oscar Agaba brought down Rajaorimanana in the area. The Elgeco Plus once again converted from the spot through Rajaorimanana to make it 2-1.
Once again the industrious Robert Ssentongo rose to the occasion when he scored the equalizer and his second on the day before dangerous substitute Frank Kalanda netted the winner in the 80th minute, to end the game 3-2 in favor of URA.
The tax collectors now await for the return leg on the 27th of February that will be in Madagascar.
