Uganda’s representatives at the ongoing Mapinduzi Peace Cup in Zanzibar, Kampala City Council Football Club managed to book a slot in the quarter final stage of the tournament after beating home side KMKM 2-1 in the last game of Group B.
After a barren first half, the industrious Herman Wasswa gave the defending champions a lead and Michael Birungi scored the second before the home side KMKM netted a late consolation at the Aman Stadium. The victory saw the Uganda Premier League champions progress to the quarter finals unbeaten after gathering a total of 7 points from three games, scoring a total of 7 goals and conceding 3 goals in the process.
KCC were forced to a two-all draw during their group opener by Tanzania’s Azam F.C before thumping Zanzibar’s Mtende F.C 3-0 in which the yellow youngster William Wadri netted a brace to add to Herman Wasswa’s goal earlier.
