It was all music and wine and good looking women at the just concluded Blankets And Wine at Uganda Museum on Sunday afternoon. It was a year ender of sort and it never disappointed an ounce. Is there an event that attracts a bevy of attractive girls than Blankets And Wine? They came in droves, all looking unadulterated and eye-candy. Fashionable with sprinkles of awesomeness; they looked dapper decked under their hats. The sun came out in a dress, too, and it was as ruthless as though someone had its debt.

Well, as the day progressed, music took centre stage with Michael Kitanda jazzing with his sax and serenading the people who sat delightfully on their mats, under umbrellas, under hats, or on the greenery. This edition attracted a considerably bigger attendance compared to the last editions this year. Other artistes that performed included Mun*G and Ekky.

As the evening inched closer and fun hang heavy in the air, the emcee of the day, Deedan, yelled and called out Freshly Ground on stage. The crowd turned rowdy, only in unmeasurable happiness. They drew closer to the stage, piling themselves a few inches off the stage and shoved up their smart phones to capture the moment on Instagram.

Freshly Ground worked the crowd with such undoubted ability as they brought their international A-game on board. They performed a catalogue of songs that kept the crowd on their toes like a waddle of penguins. Dancing. Shouting. Taking pictures. And all that, while sipping and quaffing on their drinks and dancing in circles. As they climbed down the stage, there was a special performance from Jose Chameleone who, amidst a thunderous applause from the audience performed only Wale Wale and tumbled down the stage. It was fun. It was a day that will stay with Kampala’s social class for a long while. And it was worth the salt. Blankets and Wine is always sponsored by Tusker Malt Lager which was plenty on the day.
