Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) returned to winning ways yesterday with a 3-2 victory over defending champions Kampala Capital City (KCC) at Mehta stadium in Lugazi. Midfielder Patrick Ochan and goal poacher Robert Ssentongo made it to the score sheet for URA before team captain Simeon Masaba notched the third from a penalty spot to give the tax collectors a win on the back of losing with the same score to Rwenshama last week.
The industrious Brain Umony scored a brace for the defending champions to raise his personally to 7 goals while Ssentongo extended his to 8.
At the heart of Kampala in the Nakivubo stadium, Sadolin Paints maintained their winning streak with a 2-1 win over struggling Entebbe FC. Strikes from Norman Ogiki and Andrew Basooma, who is on loan at the club from Police, gave the Jinja based side a second consecutive win. Defender Philly Lutaaya headed home from Azizi Mugonza’s corner to get a consolation for Entebbe FC.
Elsewhere, table leaders Vipers were held to a goalless draw by Express at the Wankulukuku stadium on the evening. Nonetheless they remained unbeaten in 12 games now with 27 points and still lead the 16-team log.
At the Bombo Military stadium, the prodigal son Fred Kajoba returned home with poison that killed his former employers when his new side Bright Stars condemned the army side Simba to a 1-0 defeat. At the brink of the first half, Jimmy Lule slotted home for the guests with an exquisitely taken free-kick.
The Uganda Premier League will continue this Friday.
