OMG OMG….. How inhumane can people get? Just watched this video of the maid violently abusing this little girl. I haven’t coiled to this extent in years. What has happened to the World?
It brings me to my early years as a Kid. I was staying in Makindye and my mother would leave me with a maid, a one lady called “Najjengo.” I ended up learning Luganda just to be able to express myself to my mother at the end of the day about the pain I would go through at the hands of the maid. I became famous for my daily statements; “Najjengo kuuba twe, koono..” to mean “Najjengo beats my head and hands.”
But this housemaid has gone beyond the acceptable levels. She even goes ahead to stand on the little baby with all her weight. I will try to sleep and think of how dumbed down we’ve become as a country. How we’ve lost our sense of oneness and kindness?
The little girl pukes on the floor after suffering the slaps of this maid, and she still has the audacity to kick the baby. Doing all this while enjoying the television of her boss, seated in the comfortable sofa chairs of the boss, and eating the food the boss bought.
So I say, yes we want to give our children a better life, but we need to know better about the people with whom we leave our babies.
Of late, some parents send kids as young as 4 years old to Boarding Schools. These days, day care centres are now doing night shifts. But why bring innocent children into this world if you are not ready to give them your time?
I am glad after one month of daily reporting to my mother, she was forced to abandon whatever she was doing, stayed home and raised me to the end without ever hiring a maid ever in my early years.
Where’s the love gone to? Why all that hate that would see someone torture a little girl that way?
