The All African Music Awards ceremony set for Lagos that was meant to take place over the weekend got postponed following financial hitches.
“It is disheartening that despite the credible efforts of the AFRIMA team in the past three years and the spirited drive for the entry submission and adjudication process, receiving more than 2,000 entries, the jury selecting nominees in 33 categories and the ongoing voting process, a major AFRIMA continental sponsor was unable to conclude their commitment by our deadline required to deliver on our world-class event,” a release from the organisers mailed to media houses over the weekend read in part.
“Consequently, the international committee of AFRIMA is postponing the programme to a later date with the intention of bringing in adequate financial resources required to ensure a credible event as quickly and expeditiously as possible. However, public and AFRIMA Academy voting on the AFRIMA website www.afrima.org has been extended for a further three weeks that will end on Tuesday, November 25,” the report had it.
