Miss TeenBy Tuhairwe Joab

Over 1500 students from over 12 schools gathered at the gardens of National theatre to witness their schools being represented at Miss Teens, Miss Brainy, Miss Fashionista and Miss Entrepreneurship. Some schools seem to despise the importance of this event and therefore have not been represented this year.

The Kampala Central event was the last regional event till the grand finale which will be held at Kati Kati come the 31st of September, 2013. Some of the schools that took part include Namagunga, St. Peters Nsambya, Kampala SS, Gayaza road high school, Kibuli SS, Mengo SS, and Kakungulu.

The event kicked off at around 10am with Miss Teens hitting the run way. Questions were thrown at them, however, contestants constantly complained about how hard the questions that the judges in Koreta, Tattu and Nigel Nasser kept throwing at them.

In this regard, one person who referred to himself as a concerned parent sent a chit to judge Nasser asking him to be lenient with students because they were already intimidated with the questions however Nasser gave this a deaf ear explaining that they are the same questions that they gave other students from village schools, up country.

Rema who recently quit Gagamel graced the event by singing most of her favorite songs including oliwange, seek and sickle and the whole crowd went on fire. During her performance, Rema survived falling down when her high hilled shoe got stuck in the ground. She could barely move any further until one of the female students came to her rescue, offering her a helping hand.

Other artists include Young Mulo who didn’t get enough applause and some comedians like Doribondo and others

As the day came to an end, Zahara Muhammad form 4, 17 years from Kakunguru Memorial was crowned Miss Teens representative of Kampala Central and will represent the region and school at the grand finale. Elizabeth Musubiika 15 years in form 5 was the first runner up and Linda Catherine from Mengo taking the third spot.
