Local musician, Wasswa Jamal, whose music has been shunned by several radio stations, has said that Ugandan artistes are selfish. He made the remarks during an interview where he said that big artistes have refused to make way for the upcoming ones.

“We lack identity and most artistes are selfish,” Jamal shared his thoughts about the Ugandan music industry. “I think it’s time for some of the big artistes to pave way for upcoming ones. And it would be better if they at least teach the young ones how they did it, so that they can become successful as well.”

The singer who has about 20 songs also said that he is working on his 2015 album so that he can displace the big artistes who have refused to leave. “10 songs are done so far with my latest release ‘Ngolabye’ as one of them. I’m contemplating on naming it Hero’s Album. It’s going to be a combination of all my previous hits together with new music.”

The musician who had reportedly ignored his mother to the extent that she had nowhere to sleep for years as he lived large in town and sang about the plight of women and mothers, was exposed by the media last year. His career went down the drain shortly after.

He has now decided to return with a bang.
