Chipolopolo

By James Robert Kayindi

The Zambian young Chipolopolo arrived in the country yesterday morning (Thursday) ahead of their second leg clash with the Uganda Cubs in the CAF U-17 qualifiers on Saturday 28th September. The Chipolopolo’s head coach, Chris Kaunda voiced out his opinion ahead of the clash. The visitors are currently residing at Grand global hotel at Makerere and had an evening training session at the Makerere main ground ahead of their clash where Coach Kaunda briefly addressed the press.

“We are not intimidated by FUFA’s petition to CAF over some of our players. Let them bring their machines and check the boys because I assure you they are all of the right age”, Kaunda remarked during the brief press address.

“It’s not only Patson Daka who plays for Nchanga Rangers in this young squad but there is also another player in the squad who plays for the same club but isn’t included in the petition, why?” Kaunda added. He was however hesitant to mentioning the second player’s name.

The team looked to be in a good shape as they continued with their drills yesterday evening at the Makerere main ground and seemingly can’t wait to play against the cubs on Saturday at Nakivubo stadium.

“We know the fans will come in numbers and make much noise in form of support for their team but that will not distract us but will actually make us mentally strong. In fact they can make the game free for everyone to let in more fans in”, Kaunda told the press.

Zambia have a 2-0 advantage over the Cubs after the first leg. Let’s all go support the Cubs on Saturday.

The Chipolopolo squad:

Goalkeepers: Danny Sinkanyika and Jackson Kakunta.
Defenders: Edward Chimfwembe, Salati Lungu, Edwin Chipile, Wayne Musemba, Prosper Chiluya, Kingsley Musabula, Gift Sikaonga.
Midfielders: Enock Mwepu, Changwe Kalale, Victor Chungu, Musonda Siame, Shadreck Kambwili, Garry Mweelwa.
Strikers: Patson Daka, Pumulo Siwanga and Kenny Sinkala.
Head Coach: Chris Kaunda; Assistant Coach: Joel Bwalya
