In all the years since our (in)formal education, what are some sex facts we don’t know that might make us cringe? We are happy to give you 10 of them!

1. There are over 30 different ingredients, if you will, found in a man’s semen. They include vitamin B12, nitrogen, lactic acid, ascorbic acid, cholesterol and creatine.

2. Mind-blowing sex can give you transient global amnesia, a condition that causes you to lose all of your memories for a couple of hours.

3. Approximately one in every 100 people can be hit with a case of “coital thunderclap headache,” or benign sex headache. This is when you get hit with an intense and unbearable headache in the middle of sexual activity.

4. Chlamydia is a sometimes symptomless sexually transmitted infection. For couples who engage in anal sex, chlamydia can spread and lead to pain and mucous discharge.

5. Out of 1,000 millenial moms asked, 12 percent use their cell phones while having sex.

6. Forty percent of women have had exercise-induced orgasms at least 11 times in their lives.

7. There are a few reported cases of venous air embolisms in (mostly) pregnant women. This is a result of air bubbles entering the circulatory system and blocking vessels — all from oral sex, causing tissue damage and sometimes death.

8. Sexsomnia is a condition where people sleeping engage in sexual activity. In a 2007 study, sexsomnia affected 7.6 percent of people.

9. HPV is not only transmitted through vaginal or anal intercourse. It can also be transmitted from genital-to-genital contact, as well as hand-to-genital contact.

10. The average sexual experience lasts 37 minutes.
