Do you know popular Nicki Minaj’s song titled Pills and Portions? No, not the infamous, snakey and terrifyingly seductive Anaconda. Pills and Portions, one of those Nicki Minaj’s songs that linger like a bad kiss. It is good. And it remains with you for a long while. The sheer goodness with which Nicki Minaj sings and the fluidity with which she raps. The video is darned good as well. Now, the world has been waiting for a remix of the song. The whole world, I tell you. South America inclusive. Luckily, the remix dropped. It is Ugandan. It is funny as it is damned creative, peppered with sprinkles of silliness and unmatched wit spewed by the artistes on the track.
XFM presenters merged their talents with other artistes and baked the remix of Pills and Portions. I am certain Nicki Minaj can shake her plastic booty to the track and, thereafter, laugh herself to demise. Jesus! It is that funny. And, like the original, the remix is addictive. I have listened to it over and over again and every time it leaves me unquenched. It is titled Beans and Posho. Something that borders on insanity. Who came up with such a title? Beans and Posho, goodness! The common delicacy is so popular with Ugandans, more especially to those that went to secondary schools. And when it came to the selection of the title to the remix, Beans and Posho, which rhymes like Pills and Portions was selected at the drop of a hat.
On the remix, there are insanely creative lads. XFM’s Libolo sings the chorus of the song. And he comes off as funny as hell; something you would surely expect fromLibolo Chai, the X-AM funny man.
Still on the track, Cynthia, still from XFM, raps. Now, the remix reveals something that people never knew. Cynthia can rap. And she can rap nicely, like she has been doing it for a long time. Her bars are gosh-damned funny and her voice spills out, crystal clear and therein lies her uncovered talent. Something she needs to be serious about given the fact that we, as a country, are understaffed with female rappers.
Later on, Baboon Forest’s Big Trill, still from X-FM, falls in with his usual electrifying rapping that leaves the gods clapping in delight. Engyma, one of Uganda’s rap kings, saunters in later on the witty remix, delivering equally witty bars. Benezeri steals the show thereafter. The fast-rising rapper’s lines sell the remix. Much as he raps in a somewhat laidback tone, he seemingly kills the beat. But the highlight of the track is Siima’s piercing flute that sears through towards the end of the song.
Funny song, this one. Something of a feel good nature you can listen to after a long day on the grind and you feel your life coming back to its right path.
