The Uganda cranes started their training early this week with gym work as the first process of restoring their fitness while commuting from their own residential areas. The team yesterday was boosted with the arrival of Kenyan based duo Khalid Aucho and Martin Kiiza of Tursker FC who joined the Cranes’ squad and also participated in the morning training session at Mandela National stadium.

On-form KCCA FC striker Brian Umony and new signing Richard Kasaga (defender) who were part of the “Kasasiro boys” squad that participated in the recently concluded CECAFA Club championship in Rwanda were all part of the squad that attended yesterday’s morning training session.

Teammate and brilliant winger Brian Majwega missed the training session due to a knock that he sustained during the Kagame cup championship, however made it a point to show up at Namboole.

While speaking about the Group E tie against Ghana, Umony said, “I am ready if given chance against Ghana. It was a great opportunity emerging the top scorer in the CECAFA club championship. I feel the touch and form to score the goals is back. Yes, we all know that Ghana is a great team who even played at the recently concluded World Cup but we are going into this game for a result so we are confident we can make it because I think we have the potential.”

FUFA Vice President Darius Mugoye who is also chairman for Youth and Competition committees in FUFA embraced the training session. The team will join residential camp tomorrow at Sky Hotel in Nalya after a gym session at midday (Acacia Mall) and training at1pm (KCCA Stadium).

Players that attended yesterday’s training include; Benjamin Ochan, Brian Bwete, Isaac Isinde, Richard Kasaga, Khalid Aucho, Allan Kyambadde, Farouk Miya, Brian Umony, Robert Sentongo and Martin Kiiza
