With barely three weeks left to the 3rd and final round of the 2015 Under-17 Africa Cup of nations’ qualifiers, the Cubs’ head coach is worried about the little time left for the team to start preparations ahead of their first leg clash with Zambia. The CAF U-17 2015 Africa Cup of Nations is due to be in Niger.

“Sincerely speaking, we have less time on our side but we shall start training next weekend,” Lule revealed the Cubs plans on Friday. “Majority of the players have been on holiday from schools and I have been monitoring their private session.”

Uganda’s successive run to this final knock out stage of the qualifiers came after the Uganda Cubs eliminated Seychelles by a 5-0 aggregate and later Rwanda’s Wasps by 7–2 on aggregate after two legs in all the different clashes in their earlier stages of the campaign. Besides Emmanuel Olinga, the Gor Mahia Academy based player, the rest of the players are within the country. Qatar based midfielder Hassan Ssenyonjo and U.S Based Andrew Okiring did not travel back after the ties against Rwanda and have been under Lule’s closing monitoring as they do private training.

Up country based players, Luwalo Kipper (Layibi College), Muhammed Shaban (Arua Public), Ezra Bidda (Teremuga in Koboko) will be given a day’s resting period as the rest of the team begin their training sessions at Nakivubo stadium on Monday morning according to the head coach.

“We shall have to work on fitness levels, speed, agility and positional discipline plus shooting skills in this preparatory time”, Lule added.

Over two legs, the aggregate winner between Zambia and Uganda will qualify for the CAF under 17championships in Niger come January2015 and all the semifinalists in Niger will play in the FIFA World U-17championships that will be in Chile.
