Nick Cannon has confirmed part of what TMZ said early Thursday: he and wifeMariah Carey have been living apart for months.
Amid reports that the pair are getting divorced, 33-year-old Cannon told The Insider with Yahoo on Thursday that there’s “trouble in paradise” and they have been living in separate houses for some time.
He denied that infidelity was the reason for issues in their relationship and said his focus is on Moroccan and Monroe, their three-year-old twins.
TMZ reported Thursday that a divorce between the 44-year-old singer and the “America’s Got Talent” host was a “done deal.”
Sources told the gossip website that they haven’t lived in the same house since May, and their closest contact is when Cannon sees the kids.
They said the sticking point in their marriage was the host’s appearance on Big Boy’s radio show in March, in which he named Kim Kardashian among five celebrities he had slept with.
Carey was also reportedly upset that Nick Cannon went on The Howard Stern Show and said that they didn’t sleep together before they were married, TMZ said.
Sources also claimed that Carey was unhappy that Cannon was working so much, while he was upset that she had become difficult after surrounding herself with “yes men.”
Cannon could never be accused of keeping intimate details of their relationship behind closed doors. He told Howard Stern in 2012 that they have sex to Carey’s music and revealed other private matters as well.
The two were married in 2008 after six weeks of dating.
