Nemostars

By James Robert Kayindi

Even without the best of performances, reigning champions Nemostars have managed to maintain their 100% record by beating KAVC in the in male NSSF Volleyball League. Nemostars, the two-time league champion struggled to defeat KAVC 3-1 in a game where they toiled to show their dominance in the Volleyball sport.

“It’s not the best of our performance but will surely get better with time”, said Nemostar’s George Aporu. “We had our shortcomings but took advantage of their weakness period.”

Nemostars took the lead in the first set when they unconvincingly won it 25-21 for the KAVC leveled in the second set with a 25-23 point score. KAVC exposed the Nemostars as they failed with their blocking tactic together with sweat drains on reception as their opponent (KAVC) continued to show better play at the time with potential to push the champions into a fifth set of the clash.

Nemostar’s best player wasn’t at the top of his game which greatly affected him on the night as they continued to struggle. The champions however swept like old brooms as they recovered from an 8 point lead (11-19) to win the fourth set 25-23.

A day later Nemostars defeated Ndejje Sharks 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-10) to take their unbeaten run to 14 games with four regular season games to go. Ndejje made it two out of two against former champions Nkumba University with a 3-2 (23-25, 29-27, 19-25, 25-22, 15-5) win. Ndejje later whitewashed Nemostars ‘ladies 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-21).
