The Big Bang Theory has delayed production on season eight due to contract talks.
Production on the comedy was meant to begin today (July 30), but five main cast members have not yet reached a deal with Warner Bros TV, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are still negotiating contracts, meaning they are currently not returning to work on the season.
Warner Bros TV has issued a statement about the delay, saying: “Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on The Big Bang Theory – which was originally scheduled to begin today – has been postponed.”
It is unknown how long production on season eight will be delayed.
CBS president Nina Tassler previously stated that it was likely the cast would make a contract deal.
