Deejay Maphrey who works with Decks II scooped an NBL DJ award last week in Mbarara. The young dedicated DJ received a 500,000shs cash prize after his victory at the competition held at The Heat bar in Mbarara town on Thursday night.
The event which took Mbarara like a storm and was attended by many saw several other DJ’s being rewarded. DJ Gifology aka Gift Kamukama who was the first runner up also went home with a cash prize of 200,000shs while DJ Flyo also known as Friday Mayanja was the second runner up. Friday won 150,000shs.
Speaking on behalf of Nile Breweries and Trance events who organised the awards, Dj Tony advised all DJ’s to take control of their act and value them selves if they want to be recognised in the music industry. He also asked DJ’s to turn professional and warned against those who claim to be DJ’s only to spoil the reputation of real DJ’s in the industry.
The party went on till the wee hours of the morning as revelers danced to celebrate Dj Maphrey’s victory, little wonder, the weekend had come early for Mbarara.
Meanwhile, the Club DJ Awards grand finale will be held this Sunday at Lido Beach.
