Not many had ever thought that a footballer would take a bite at a banana thrown at him by a supporter with racism aims.

Have you heard about Barcelona soccer star Dani Alves? He decided to combat racism with humor on Sunday after a fan threw a banana at him from the stands.

Alves picked it up, took a bite, and tossed it aside before resuming play. This action has already spurred a global anti-racist movement on social media using #weareallmonkeys and #SayNoToRacism.

From Uganda, Nation Media’s Andrew Mwangusha was at the front line of the campaign backed up by Jacobs Odongo Seaman and yours truly Ian Ortega.

According to yours truly; “A Monkey A Day keeps racism away.”

Andrew Mwenda on his official page posted; “When life throws you bananas, pick them up and eat them while they last.”

This has been the most viral campaign on social media against racism in soccer.
