Media personality MC Kats has revealed why he is no longer interested in managing artists, saying he invested a lot of money, time and passion into the musicians he previously worked with but received little in return.

The King of the Mic recalled the challenges he went through while promoting Ugandan music, revealing that he would sometimes get into fights with DJs and bar owners in an effort to have his artists’ songs played.
“Some nights, I was thrown out of bars because I was fighting DJs to play Ugandan music until we started a theme night at Fame Lounge,” he said.
He also revealed that the artists he signed back then hardly invested in their own music videos or promotions, claiming that he did almost everything himself, moving from one bar to another to push their music.
According to him, he took on the responsibility because he understood how difficult it was to penetrate the music industry and was focused on the bigger picture. He believed that if the artists eventually became successful, they would all benefit financially in the future.
However, he feels his efforts were never fully appreciated, claiming that some artists started looking down on him once they began making money.
“No artist has done something as big as what I have done for them,” he said, adding that artists often begin treating him like trash once they get some money.
Mc Kats further revealed that he has since stepped away from active media work and is now concentrating on his YouTube channel, where he discusses real-life challenges and issues affecting society.
He explained that having spent most of his life employed, he now wants to build something of his own rather than continue working for other people for decades.
“I’ve been employed for too long. Started working when I was 17 and I wouldn’t want to work for someone 30 or 40 years later,” he said.
He added that his current focus is to use his work on YouTube to give back to his community and share experiences and conversations that can make a difference.
