With just two weeks to his 50 Years of Greatness concert, Mesach Semakula received support from fellow musicians and members of Uganda’s entertainment industry at a press conference held at Papaz Spot in Makindye on Thursday.
The gathering brought together artistes, socialites, sponsors including V&A Sherry, and journalists, as Semakula stepped up preparations for his November 13 concert at Kingdom Kampala.
The event took on a cultural feel, with guests turning up in traditional attire, including gomesis for the ladies and kanzus for the men.
Among those who came out to support Semakula were Maureen Nantume, David Lutalo, Ronald Mayinja, Karole Kasita, and Sophie Gombya, among others.
For Semakula, the concert is a chance to celebrate his 50th birthday with the people who have been part of his journey, and to give fans an evening of the music that has kept him in the industry for decades.
Speaking at the press conference, the singer thanked his fans, fellow artistes and everyone who has supported him over the years.
“I am grateful to God for bringing me this far, and to everyone who has been part of my journey. My fans have stood with me through the years, and I do not take that support for granted. This concert is my way of celebrating with them and thanking them for the love they have shown me,” Semakula said.
“I am ready to meet my fans on November 13. I want them to come, enjoy themselves, sing along, and celebrate with me. We have come a long way together, and I want this to be a night we will all remember,” he added.
“Papa Mesach Semakula has inspired many artistes over the years. His music has touched generations and continues to resonate with both the young and the old. We can’t wait to join him on November 13 to celebrate his journey,” Karole Kasita said.

His songs have accompanied people through different moments in their lives, and his journey speaks to the importance of consistency, passion and staying connected to the people who support you. We are proud to stand with him as he celebrates this important milestone,” said Angella Mpayenda, Brand Manager for V&A Sherry.
She added that the partnership aligns with the brand’s philosophy, Yours to Share.
“At V&A Sherry, we believe that moments and achievements big or small are meant to be shared. We congratulate Mesach on reaching this milestone, and we are proud to be sharing this moment with him. Supporting this concert is one of the ways we continue to support and appreciate Ugandan talent and creativity,” she added.
