After a long day with URA over tax issues, Jose Chameleone gave fans a show they will never forget at the Tubonge Live 2014 concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval yesterday. It all started with curtain raising performances from Leone Island underground artistes including Diziza, Diziza VIP, Xess Kayemba among others.
This paved way for other artistes to work the crowds. Chameleone’s brother AK47 performed some of this great hits which included his latest single called Onemye. Kapapala hit maker followed Kalifah Aganana’s performance with his Hellena collabo with the GoodLyfe duo. Crowds went wild as Radio and Weasel joined David Lutaalo on stage.
Ghetto Gladiator Bobi Wine, Sitya Loss singer Kenzo and Fille Clear who was called on stage by boyfriend and manager MC Kats entertained revelers as they built up for the major performance from East Africa’s finest Jose Chameleone. Dressed like a Roman Centurion, the Leone Island boss and man of the day Jose Chameleone hit the stage at around 10:00pm. The crowd could not help but shout for joy as they enjoyed different ballads from their star.
The Badilisha singer performed many songs on live band and at one point displayed his saxophone skills. Chameleone did two songs with the saxophone. One of them was Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and a gospel song called “Amazing Grace.” As the evening rains continued to fall from the sky, he called his eldest son Abba Marcus Mayanja a.k.a T Rex who displayed his rapping skills, T Rex did two freestyle rap songs thanking his dad’s fans for the support. He commanded the crowd as people were silent while listening to him. Some people got emotional at this point and broke down as the talented youngster did his thing.
Chameleone concluded it all by introducing his East African entourage and performing his Tubonge hit song. “For all the concerts I have attended, international one’s included, I had never seen loyal fans like the one’s at the Tubonge concert, no one moved an inch amidst the rain” said a fan at the show.
The grounds were filled to full capacity and there is no more doubt that music doctor Jose Chameleone is East Africa’s finest.
