Veteran singer Banjo Man has opened up about why he lost his place in the Ugandan music industry, revealing that financial struggles pushed him out of active music.
Speaking candidly, Banjo Man said the industry drained his resources and left him struggling to make ends meet. “The music industry wasted my time and made me poor. I was only spending and begging,” he said.
He went on to confirm claims made by fellow artist Lil Pazo, who once stated that Banjo Man used to seek financial help from him.
“It’s true what Lil Pazo says—that I used to beg for survival. He worked somewhere in Bwaise and had some money, so I’d go and ask him for help,” Banjo admitted.
The singer, who is Bobi Wine’s elder brother, explained that the harsh realities of the music business forced him to rethink his life. He decided to take a step back and invest in other ventures, particularly real estate, where he says he has found success.
“I had to look for something that gives back. I thank God that real estate has worked for me,” he added.
Banjo Man now focuses on business but says he still respects the industry that once made him a household name, even though it nearly left him with nothing.
