Ziza Bafana Defends Himself After Appearing at UNMF’s Yoweri Music Album Launch

Dancehall star Ziza Bafana has asked National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters to ease up on him following his appearance at the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) event, which launched the Yoweri Music Album in support of President Museveni and the ruling NRM party.

Bafana, who has consistently identified himself as a strong NUP supporter, clarified that his attendance at the function was not political but rather a gesture of respect and friendship.

“The event was about informing artists. We picked some leaders as musicians and Eddy Kenzo is one of them. I might not agree with his decisions and choices but he’s a fellow musician and he’s among the first people I started music with. Kenzo was the first artist to take me to Club Vault and also gave me a shirt one time. My friendship with him is beyond political parties,” Bafana explained.

According to the singer, his presence was largely influenced by a personal invitation from Eddy Kenzo, who reached out after Bafana’s recent criticisms of the federation.

“Kenzo called me and invited me to the event. I reached and saw red carpets and other artists wearing yellow and said this isn’t where I belong,” he added, distancing himself from any political alignment with NRM.

Bafana emphasized that his loyalty remains with NUP but urged supporters to understand the bonds of friendship and professional respect within the music industry.
