Hon. Geoffrey Lutaaya has spoken out following claims made by his 17-year-old daughter, Nambatya Mellan Lutaaya, who recently accused him on TikTok of being a deadbeat father.

Mellan alleged that the legislator had abandoned his parental responsibilities and refused to pay her school fees, despite several attempts to reach him through calls, court, and third parties.
Speaking in a phone interview, Hon. Lutaaya acknowledged that Mellan is indeed his biological daughter but dismissed her public outcry as an agenda driven by malicious individuals.
He explained that he had been supporting her education and had fully paid her tuition at Stella Marris, Nsuube, a school he believed provided a proper learning environment.
According to him, Mellan’s mother rejected the school and transferred her back to her former institution, where she was later expelled after allegedly assaulting a teacher. The school only permitted her to return for final exams but barred her from attending regular classes.
“The mother never called me to inform me about the expulsion. I only got to know through another parent. Later, when she joined a new school, they asked for 1.96 million shillings. I paid the money, but they kept demanding more,” Lutaaya explained.
The legislator further lamented that he has been denied the opportunity to bond with his daughter and called on her mother to allow him to take Mellan into his care.
“She doesn’t deserve to be used like that. She is old enough, and I can take her with me. I want to introduce her to her clan. I have raised other people’s children; my own cannot fail me. I want my child,” he pleaded.
Mellan, who is currently a Senior Four candidate, insists her father has failed to meet his obligations, which pushed her to seek justice through social media.
