Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Anitah Annet Among, has called on King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro to marry, promising to contribute towards his bride price.
Speaking during the Tooro Kingdom’s 30th coronation celebrations of Omukama Oyo, Among said she was ready to offer cows for the King’s marriage.
“Your Majesty, you know I am a cattle keeper. I have told you just get a partner, I am going to pay all the cows, and today I am going to deposit the cows,” she stated in her speech.
The colorful event marked three decades of King Oyo’s reign since he ascended the throne at the age of three.
The ceremony attracted government officials, cultural leaders, and dignitaries who joined the Tooro Kingdom in celebrating this milestone.
King Oyo, now 32, is one of the youngest reigning monarchs in the world. His marital status has often been a topic of public interest, and Speaker Among’s remarks added light-hearted humor to the celebration.
