Legendary Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone, real name Joseph Mayanja, has agreed to end his 17-year marriage with wife Daniella Atim, marking the official close of one of the country’s most high-profile celebrity unions.

The couple, who tied the knot on June 7, 2008, share five children together. Atim filed for divorce in March 2025, citing years of neglect, lack of love, and inadequate support.
She revealed that she suffered depression during the marriage and accused Chameleone of abandoning her for five years, leaving her to single-handedly raise their children.
In her divorce petition, Atim is seeking:
- Full custody of the children
- Full ownership of their Seguku residence in Makindye Division, Kampala
- Financial support from Chameleone for herself and the children
- Payment of court fees
However, Chameleone has opposed some of her demands. While he agrees to continue supporting his children, he insists that the Seguku home should remain in the children’s name, not solely Atim’s.
He also wants the right to access his children, whom he claims Atim has turned against him.
Chameleone further defended himself against allegations of neglect, arguing that in 2018 both parties had mutually agreed to relocate the family to the United States.
He also maintained that he personally purchased the Seguku house, emphasizing that both parents should contribute to their children’s upbringing since they are both financially capable.
The divorce proceedings continue as one of Uganda’s most followed celebrity love stories comes to an end.
