The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has cleared striker Robert Ssentongo to feature for URA FC in the FUFA Super League.

The former Cranes striker had complained to the world football body after his former team St. George of Ethiopia had refused to let him go.

The player left The Ethiopian side late last year after he was not getting playing time.

Ssentongo signed a two year deal last January for St. George but fell out with the former Ethiopian champions.

Ahmed Hussein, the Ugandan FA’s spokesman told MTNFootball.com on Friday night that that in a communication signed by both FIFA’s Director of Legal Affairs Marco Villger and Head Of players’ status and governance Omar Ongaro, the world body granted the player permission to feature for URA FC.

“We would like to inform you that based on the documentation and information at our disposal, we are able to grant your request for the special exemption for the ‘validation exception’ in the TMS,” read part of the communication from FIFA.

Early this year FIFA also cleared Uganda Cranes players Emmanuel Okwi and Geoffrey Walusimbi to join SC Villa in Uganda after they had deserted their clubs Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) and Don Bosco (DR Congo) respectively. The two teams had reportedly failed to honour the players’ contracts.
