Uganda’s entertainment industry is mourning the death of one of its pioneers, DJ Michael Benjamin Owor, popularly known as DJ Bush Baby.

The veteran deejay was found dead on Thursday morning in his studio located in Entebbe Municipality.
The news of his passing has cast a dark cloud over the music and media community, as many remember him as a trailblazer and mentor to several current top deejays across Africa.

DJ Bush Baby had faced health struggles in recent years.
In 2021, he appeared in a video seeking financial support after surviving a serious accident.

He revealed that he had sustained fractured hip bones and injuries to some internal organs. Fortunately, the campaign received support, allowing him to access the medical care he needed at the time.
Bush Baby rose to fame through his work at the now-defunct East African Television, which was well known for promoting regional music talent.
His influence extended beyond Uganda, inspiring a new generation of spin masters across the continent.
As the country comes to terms with the loss, tributes continue to pour in from fans, artists, and fellow deejays, celebrating the life and legacy of a true legend in African entertainment.
