Eddy Kenzo has expressed his frustration over what he described as “unfair treatment” of local artists during the recently held Coffee Marathon event in Ntungamo, where Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz was given what Kenzo called preferential treatment.
Kenzo, who notably skipped the event’s press conference—attended by Bebe Cool, The Ben, Truth256, and Diamond Platnumz himself—voiced his disappointment in the way the event was handled by the organizers.
According to him, the treatment of local artists compared to that of Diamond Platnumz was “belittling” to the Ugandan music industry.
“You can’t tell me you hired a jet and helicopter for a guest artist and give the rest of us an unfair treatment. We are also humans, so we can’t just see others receive privileges—especially in our own country—and look on without saying something,” Kenzo stated.
Diamond Platnumz reportedly arrived in Uganda aboard a chartered private jet and then used a helicopter to get to the press conference in Ntungamo.
Kenzo saw this as an unnecessary show of extravagance that sidelined Ugandan artists who are equally important to such events.
“I’m not speaking from a place of jealousy,” Kenzo added. “But we are also worth being on that show and enjoying special treatment, because if I wasn’t worth it, you can’t book me to that.”
The remarks have sparked debate on social media, with fans and fellow artists weighing in on the treatment of local talent at international events hosted on home soil.
While some agree with Kenzo’s sentiments, others argue that international stars often require different logistics for travel and security.
