Friday night at the Sheraton Gardens was filled with laughter, wit, and unapologetic roasting as the Comedy Grill honored Anne Kansiime’s 10-year career. Organized by Talent Africa Group—known for their innovative event concepts and contributions to Uganda’s entertainment scene—the evening began with a buzz of excitement and a warm red-carpet welcome.

Guests were stylishly photographed before being handed signature Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger cocktails, perfectly setting the tone for the evening’s roasts.
Before the main grill, comedian Daniel Omara delivered a sharp, engaging set, offering a glimpse of the hilarious roasting ahead. The official program kicked off with spirited introductions by dynamic MC duo Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira, who then presented the evening’s lineup of “Grill Chefs.”
The roasters were a mix of veteran entertainers and fresh comedic voices, including Salvador, Madrat and Chico, Nana Kagga, GNL Zamba, Gaetano Kaggwa, Dr. Miria Matembe, Prim Asiimwe, and Skylanta. Each brought their own flavor of humor, highlighting the richness of Uganda’s comedic talent.
Speaking at the event, Hillary Baguma, Brand Manager for Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries, remarked, “Seeing such incredible talent come together was truly special. As Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger, we’re proud to have sparked this unforgettable night of fun in a way that authentically reflects who we are as Ugandans.”
Anne Kansiime made a stunning entrance in a floral pink gown, taking the jabs with poise and laughter as she settled in for the roast. First to the mic was hip-hop legend GNL Zamba, who playfully took aim at both Kansiime and his fellow roasters. The heat only rose with each set, with jokes and clapbacks flying across the stage, leaving the audience in stitches.
Even Talent Africa’s CEO, Aly Allibhai, wasn’t spared from the roast, but he took it all in stride. “This was a landmark moment for Anne and for Uganda’s entertainment scene,” he said. “Partnering with Uganda Waragi allowed us to create an innovative experience that honored Anne’s brilliance while showcasing the strength of our comedy. The energy, laughter, and unity we saw tonight will resonate for years.”
When Kansiime finally took the mic, her joy was evident. “You’ve let me make a fool of myself, and now my heart is full,” she said between laughs. She closed the night with a few jabs of her own and heartfelt thanks to her guests, fellow performers, sponsors, and everyone who has supported her over the past decade.
As the curtains closed, the audience was left with a sense that they had witnessed the birth of a vibrant new tradition in Ugandan comedy.
