Bobi Wine has shared a touching tribute, reflecting on a deeply personal moment he shared with the late Pontiff during his historic 2015 visit to Uganda.

Bobi Wine recalled the honor of performing for Pope Francis as part of an official Catholic Church welcome ceremony.

Collaborating with fellow artist Sylver Kyagulanyi and the Rubaga Church Choir, Bobi Wine helped compose and lead a special song that was performed during the Pope’s visit.

“I am glad I got the opportunity to perform for the late Pope Francis when he visited Uganda in 2015,” Bobi Wine said.

“When he was coming, I collaborated with my friends, including Sylver Kyagulanyi and the Rubaga Church Choir. We joined efforts to come up with a song that welcomed him.”

He explained that he chose to sing in Luganda, his native language, to ensure his message came from the heart.

“I sang the song in my native language because I wanted to freely express what I was feeling from the bottom of my heart,” he said.

Bobi Wine also reflected on his appearance during the performance, emphasizing a message of inclusion and freedom for young people in the church. “I dressed up as I did because I wanted the youth to feel free whenever they visit church, regardless of their social status,” he added.
