Renowned Ugandan singer Catherine Kusasira is facing financial difficulties after securing a loan of UGX 210 million using a vehicle gifted to her by President Yoweri Museveni as collateral.

According to money lenders, Kusasira presented her Toyota Land Cruiser V8, registration number UBF 610S, as security to obtain the loan.
However, after failing to repay the amount within the agreed time, the lenders attempted to sell the vehicle to recover their money.

Their efforts were unsuccessful due to a caveat placed on the car, preventing its transfer of ownership.
Unlike other vehicles given out by President Museveni, Kusasira’s car was a direct personal gift from him.

This explains why its ownership card is registered in her name.
When contacted for a comment, Kusasira admitted to the financial struggle and pleaded for an extension of the grace period.
She expressed hope that President Museveni would provide her with financial assistance to clear the outstanding loan.
The situation has raised concerns about the financial management of beneficiaries of presidential gifts and the responsibilities that come with such donations.
Kusasira now awaits further assistance to settle her debt and regain full control of her vehicle.
