Singer Pia Pounds recently dropped a new song titled Big Budget, an up-beat track that speaks about accepting the challenges of life but always remembering to love yourself.
Big Budget is yet another hot song born from the musical chemistry between Pia and producer Kusseim of ABM Studio, who has produced the majority of her songs.
The Video:
The two minute and 35 second video directed by Jahlive Films depicts Pia as a girl who stays in a one roomed house somewhere in what looks like a slummy neighbourhood.
Despite all this, she doesn’t let the ghetto life deter her from living a good life on a big budget which the director brings to life in an opening scene showing her walking her well-bred dog and in another she is driving a cool ride holding a bundle of money.
Still about money, the viewer’s attention is then shifted to a following scene where her landlord is seen knocking on her door to collect her due rent. Things get dramatic as the landlord gets no response, assuming she isn’t in but shortly after, Pia and a group of her female friends are seen running out of the house, all dressed up in sexy attires to go to the bar and party the night away —like the lyrics in the song which goes “landlord leero silina zizo, ndi mubi mood bya kunywa”, loosely translated as “I don’t have your rent money today landlord, I am in a drinking mood”.
At the bar, they have all the fun, drinks and splash money around until drama ensues again when her determined landlord finds them in the bar. By this time they are already too drunk to notice his presence. On noticing, one of the girls tells Pounds, and together they just look and laugh at him in contempt and carry on enjoying themselves.
The choreography is simple and easy, the dancers are seen having fun with their dance moves and this adds a spice of its own in the video. Pia changes her costumes 5 times and with the kind of concept, they march the video perfectly.
Conclusion:
It is clear that this music video which has over 470K views on YouTube reveals that one has to make him or herself the first priority before others and the relationship between the song lyrics and the video scenes is without a doubt the only way through which the viewer can fully appreciate it.
